Haydon Land and Jayson Maxwell Charged, CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Aiden Darity, 19, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died after arriving at Bradley Medical Center with a gunshot wound in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 30. Authorities have since charged two 19-year-olds in connection with the incident as the investigation continues.
According to the Cleveland Police Department, officers launched an investigation after Darity was brought to Bradley Medical Center at approximately 2:30 a.m. suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
During the investigation, detectives identified Haydon Land and Jayson Maxwell, both 19, as having been with Darity at the time of the shooting. Investigators later recovered the firearm believed to be connected to the case from a ditch along 25th Street with assistance from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.
Police said Haydon Land has been charged with reckless homicide, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and tampering with evidence. Jayson Maxwell has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and tampering with evidence.
Authorities have described the shooting as an isolated incident and emphasized that the investigation remains active. Detectives continue to gather evidence and are asking anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact the Cleveland Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
At this time, funeral arrangements for Aiden Darity have not been publicly announced. Additional information may be released as the investigation progresses and arrangements are finalized by his family.
