Kevin R. Best Obituary, MARINETTE, Wis. — Kevin R. Best, 39, of Marinette, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Menominee. He was born on February 22, 1987, to Francis and Ann (Peterson) Best III in Hancock, Michigan.
Kevin was known for his passion for sports, especially hockey, football, and golf. From a young age, he played hockey for the M&M Thunder and later continued his involvement with the team by coaching alongside his father, Frank, for many years.
A graduate of Michigan Tech University, where his parents were alumni, Kevin maintained a strong connection to the area throughout his life. He enjoyed returning for family vacations and attending Tech Husky hockey games, creating many cherished memories with those close to him.
Kevin was also a devoted sports fan. He followed the Vancouver Canucks, but his greatest sports passion was THE Ohio State Football team. He especially enjoyed sharing that enthusiasm with his niece, Savannah, and nephew, Braxton, who were among his most treasured people.
On June 18, 2016, Kevin married Briann Buettner in Marinette, Wisconsin. He built a life centered around family, friendships, and the activities he loved. Professionally, he worked as a Crew Lead at Resolute Forestry Products/Domtar since 2021.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Briann Best, and their fur baby, Brutus; his parents, Francis and Ann Best; sister Colleen (Brian) Utke; brother Scott Best; nieces Hannah Frederiksen and Savannah Utke; nephew Braxton Utke; paternal grandmother Mary Alice Best; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Francis Best II, and maternal grandparents, Richard and Nancy Peterson. Per the family’s wishes, there will be no formal service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date, with Thielen Funeral Home assisting the family. Kevin’s memory will remain cherished by all who knew and loved him, and condolences are extended to his family and friends during this time of loss.
